Hello World!
Woke up today at 4am. Once again. Last night I slept great. The room was cold and I was so comfortable.
I packed my stuff up, and got on the road with Martina. Brydie and Allie were trailing behind us by 15 minutes.
We walked fast. 6km/hr. We stopped at a market to eat breakfast at 6am, and it was the coolest market ever.
They were playing a whole bunch of music I grew up listening to like Norah Jones, John Mayer, even Dave Matthews.
The woman gave us freshly baked chocolate croissants and we also got bananas.
We got back on the road and I saw Laura and Benjamin! I haven’t seen them for about 4 days.
We caught up, and continued on as the sun came out.
We all then caught up to a cute old couple that was walking the Camino. They were holding hands.
I taught Martina some English. I taught her the difference between would, could, and should, and other words and phrases.
We began to make our way into Burgos. We saw a gorgeous sunflower patch, the lovely PepsiCo factory, and a building with a massive Camino shell on the side of it.
We had to walk for another hour to arrive to the Albergue at 11am, where we sat down and elevated our feet because they were so sore, and the doors don’t open until noon.
A guided tour group then came along, and started admiring all of us pilgrims laying down outside of the albergue, taking pictures of us like we were zoo animals. It was hilarious.
Once we got let in and situated, I did my shower and laundry routine. Then ran into Abbie and Nicolo! Haven’t seen them in 4 days as well. We all got kebabs down the street. They were delicious.

I then took a solo walk around the Burgos city park because everyone else wanted to siesta. I then got tired and went back to the Albergue and took an hour long siesta myself.
Then I woke up, and Martina wanted to get food. I wasn’t really hungry because I had eaten the kebab, but since are going to leave at 4:30am again tomorrow I thought I should eat so I am not hungry when there are no food places around, also because I don’t have food to eat either.
I got chorizo eggs and fries. really good. Then she went back to the Albergue and I took off to the carrefour that was 20 minutes away to get some snacks for tomorrow morning.
On my way there, Hugo texted me that him, Pablo, and Jacob are going to a sushi buffet and asked if I wanted to join. It is the last day I will see them since they are switching to the Camino del Norte, and I have been craving sushi, so I said screw it. I got my snacks at Carrefour and walked over to the buffet.
We got so. Much. Sushi.
I was already pretty full but I sure as heck got my moneys worth.
We arrived at 9:10 and we had to be back at the albergue by 10:30 before doors close. So we were speed eating as well. The kitchen even started turning down our order requests because we were eating so much.
At 10:13pm, we got the cheque, paid, and left. We had to do a 30 minute walk in 15 minutes.
But you best believe we made it in time.
3 minutes to spare.
We chilled in the kitchen for a bit, exchanged Instagrams and numbers and went off to bed.
Hope to see those guys again. They were awesome I wish I hadn’t met them so late on their journey.
Today was very productive. I ate so much, and walked so much.
Tomorrow we officially begin the meseta. A wonderful 6-9day stroll through the desert. I’ll be walking to Hontanas tomorrow, 31km.
Can’t wait!
See y’all then,
David
