Hello!

Woke up at 5am. Packed up and got outta there quick. I have so much food from yesterday that I bought but I managed to fit it all in my pack.

Got on the road at 5:30am.

Partially clear skies, but the moon is still shining bright.

We’ve been walking so early every morning that I’ve watched the moon go from a full moon all the way to a half. Never noticed how fast it actually changes.

Came across a mini thunderstorm on the trail right as the sun was rising and it created this gorgeous hue during the walk.

Also started raining but it didn’t last long. Thankfully.

I arrived in Calzadilla de la Cueza and met up with Laura, Benjamin, Duncan, and Abbie.

They said my bed head looked like Medusa.

I’ll let you guys decide.

We got a coffee, ate some of the strawberries I had leftover from yesterday, and got back on the road. We only had like 9km left from this town.

We stopped once more to get water, even made it to the halfway marker from Roncesvalles to Santiago. Not the true halfway, that one will be in Sahagun tomorrow.

We then arrived into Terradillos de los Templarios at 11:15am. The trek went by much faster when I was walking with friends. I love my alone time as well but they each have their own moment.

We checked into the albergue, and they don’t have bunk beds! Amazing. Single beds only  with 5 in a room.

This is luxury.

I then went outside and made sandwiches with my food in the yard with Benjamin and Duncan. Duncan put me on some supermarket hot sauce and I’ve been putting it on everything. A game changer.

We were also getting swarmed with flies. I killed like 15 of them.

Did our shower laundry routine, then went back outside and played Kombio with Laura and others for like 3 hours.

We eventually moved inside because it got too hot, then we went into the dinner area.

This is the only restaurant in town and their pilgrim meal was 8.50 euros. Pretty reasonable.

And the food was delicious.

At dinner we reflected on life, and talked about our reasons for doing the Camino. It was a very emotionally bonding experience sharing all of our stories. I really enjoyed it.

Once we were finishing up with dinner, we were told it was raining outside. Our clothes were still outside hanging.

We went running out to get our clothes.

It was hectic. But we saved all of them for everyone.

I then went into the dorm area and found a piano. It was extremely out of tune and there were many broken keys but I played what I could on it.

I then went back outside, paid for dinner, and got an ice cream and sat in a circle with friends. We talked about many different  things, and then began planning our day tomorrow.

It then continued on into our dorm room. Key moment during this trip. Before bed chats are unmatched.

We are walking to Bercianos del Real Camino. 23.2km. Should be easy, and we’re all getting up at 5:30am.

Today was a lovely day. Can’t wait to sleep.

See y’all then,

David
