Today was a hilarious day.

Woke up at 5:30am. Got ready, since we were in our own small room we could turn the lights on.

Duncan Benjamin Laura and I got on the road at 6am.

The walk was great. We stopped at a bench to get water, I used the last of my cheese salami and bread to make two sandwiches.

They were delicious.

Continued on, we talked a lot about life and the differences between the UK, Germany, and the US. All of the places we are from.

We stopped again in Sahagún, the official halfway point in the Camino de Santiago. We got pastries and coffee, and while I was eating, a praying mantis jumped on my leg and was chillin for a solid 5 minutes.

I got some ham at the market across the street then we went on our way.

I also stopped at the Sanctuary where you can get your halfway certificate. I got mine. Super cool.

Nobody else stopped with me so I played catch up for the rest of the walk, going solo.

I used the time to do more planning for the future, I was very productive.

I passed Cesar, a friend of ours who has been playing catch up with our group since Burgos. He has been walking 40kms a day to get back with us after he took a rest day, and he finally reunited with us.

We all met at the donativo at Bercianos del Real Camino, and chilled in the yard for a couple hours until they opened.

We ate some food, talked about life, and caught up.

We then checked in, showered, did laundry etc., and then went to a bar to play kombio.

Also. Allegra slipped and fell in the shower today. Hahaha she’s okay

The games were getting intense. But we were having so much fun and laughing so much.

I even broke Allegra’s sangria glass by accident when I was cleaning the table. All good though, nobody got hurt.

We then made a trip to the only grocery store in town to get ice cream since it must be cheaper than if we get it at the bar.

There was a 10 person queue in line to go in. The bananas were $1 each and the ice cream was very expensive. I got one banana, an ice cream, and muffins for tomorrow mornings breakfast.

We then went back, prepared for dinner, and started cutting bread and making salads.

Then we had extra time so we played more kombio until the food was ready.

We ate good. Although we only had salad and minestrone soup, no meat, we ate a lot of food because we need the energy.

We had paella on the table when we sat down but the host took it away for some reason.

Then a girl showed up that had walked 50km today. She sat with us and ate. Was crazy.

Dinner was over, and I was on dish duty. The sink was so long I had to bend over so far to wash the dishes. Will update you guys on whether or not my back will feel that tomorrow.

We then went inside for a reflection time. In a circle, we prayed, and did another candle pass. It was once again very emotional and wonderful to hear everyone talk.

Then we went over to the park for the sunset. Some of the boys were using the gym equipment and the kid attractions. But the vibes were so high.

Abbie even sang us a song. It was lovely.

We then prepped our day tomorrow. We will wake up at 5 and walk 26km to Mansilla de las Mulas. There aren’t many albergues there so we have to arrive early.

So stoked. Today was a hilarious day.

See y’all then,

David
