Got up at 7am. Was a lovely sleep in a bed. I might be converted back to a true pilgrim.

I got up and packed up. Got on the road solo.

I did some very productive brainstorming today about my plans after the Camino. I’m loving how productive and clear my mind is during physical exercise. I’ve never channeled this power to such an extent.

The views were amazing. Didn’t really see anyone until I arrived in Luarca. This town reminded me of Cinque Terre. Their festival started last night so the streets were full of garbage and people were still out partying when we arrived.

I caught up with the rest of the squad, Pau, Pol, Marta, Lucy, and Noa when walking into town.

We split ways, but Lucy Noa and I went into a pastry shop and got some food. I picked two things I’ve never seen before in honor of my taste test experiment rule and they were really sugary and made me feel sick after.

So we went to the Alimerka and I got a chicken Cesar salad and some fruit, protein bars, and a new baguette and cheese.

We got back on our way after I mixed my salad. I ate it while we walked up the hill out of town.

We then realized our paces were different. My legs were feeling bulletproof so I pushed on by myself. I was going so fast.

Did some more future planning while on my own.

Even made a pit stop at a tortilla cafe. It was really good.

Saw some really cool houses, and also it got hot so I put my bandana hat setup on.

Arrived at the albergue at 2pm.

Pau and Pol and Josefine were the only ones there.

And the host was a dickhead.

He only knew French but was being rude to everyone. I checked in and got my bed. Showered and did my laundry and hung out in the backyard while everyone else came in.

We then did research on Albergues. Tomorrow I’m planning to walk to Ribadeo(45km) because I’ve been walking far too little recently and want to get moving. The rest are going to La Caridad. After planning, we then moved out into the sun and played cards.

We played a game similar to Presidents and Assholes which was really fun. I won the first round.

Then we moved back into the shade.

I played speed for the first time in a long time with Josefine. Then her and Noa taught me a game they know that’s similar to it as well. Much more intense and a longer game.

Then I started to teach Josefine how to properly shuffle cards.

A lot of people I’ve met on the Camino don’t know how. Surprising.

She got it down after a couple failed attempts. Even started picking up the bridge part as well.

Then we were talking with Pau and Pol, which mind you, they are some of the funniest guys I’ve ever met on the Camino.

Pol doesn’t know how to shuffle. We tried teaching him too and he ended up shuffling the cards opposite directions.

At around 7:30pm, we walked over to the only supermarket in the village. We are in the middle of nowhere.

We got some snacks and beer. I tried a kinder bueno for the first time, and Filipinos. The chocolate candy. Very good.

We then met up with Pau and Pol in the park on our walk back. We had our beers in the park while they talked to us about the human towers they do in Catalunya.

I then was convinced by all of them to walk a scenic route tomorrow to La Caridad instead of going all the way to Ribadeo. I need to take the scenic route honestly. It will be very fun.

Had some good laughs, then got up to watch the sunset. It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen in a while.

We then walked back, and went into the yard again so they could make their sandwiches for dinner, because none of us were paying 13 euro for a dinner from our host.

We walked in when the rest of the pilgrims were in fact eating said dinner though, and there were so many new faces.

We ate at the other end of the table. We all then met a girl from the UK who is walking with her mom for 6 days of the Norte while we were doing dishes.

Then got ready for bed.

Waking up at 6am to walk to La Caridad tomorrow.

See y’all then,

David
