The Song in My Head: Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town - Pearl Jam

Word of the day: Napolitana

Today’s (Random) Craving/Memory: Nana picking me up from elementary school.

Total Steps: 71,516 steps

Total Walking Distance: 31.5 miles / 50.7 kilometers

⏰ Wake Up: 6:30am

💤 Sleep: 10:30pm

Today I break my record for most kilometers walked in a day.

And passed 1 million steps.

Woke up today at 6:30am. Packed up. Went outside to put my stuff together. Noa, Nadia, and Pau were in a line stretching.

We got on the road at 7:20am.

We saw some breathtaking views of the coast. Found a rectangular monument that looked like NatGeo. Nadia and I also went exploring to the cliffs. Found so many cool places to cliff jump but it was not the time.

We continued on, and kinda separated. I pulled ahead and walked on my own. I had music running through my head and I also came up with some new melodies.

And I saw some cool houses. One even had a box for the bread/pan delivery guy. Such an interesting concept.

Even a cool face carved out of a hedge.

We then got to Tapia. This was our midway point to Ribadeo. I got there first and hit the store to get fruits and a napolitana chocolate.

Then I met up with them at a cafe and made a sandwich.

After a while we all started to part ways. Pol and Pau had to meet a friend in Ribadeo for lunch so they left early. Noa left early too to start walking.

Then I left.

Said my goodbyes because Nadia, Pol, Pau, and Josefine will all be ending their Caminos in Ribadeo. And I walk way too fast I will likely never see them or Noa and Lucy again.

Got on the road. Was hauling ass.

Views were great, came across many beaches and also was soaking in the final views of the coast before the trail heads inland after Ribadeo.

I’m walking as far as I can today, and camping when my legs get tired.

I even passed Pol and Pau, who left 45 minutes before me.

I crossed a bridge and made it into Ribadeo. I went to the grocery store to get a baguette and some snacks when I found a winter edition redbull.

Rebranded as ice edition and apparently only in Spain. I thought I’d never see them ever again. I bought it.

I packed up my pack and drank the redbull. It was amazing.

Got back on the road. Left the ocean behind, now going inland. This walk was pretty chill. I just kept going. And going.

Hills
Hills

Until it was a whole bunch of hills in the middle of nowhere and my phone was at 15%. Then I looked at maps to see where the next town was.

2 hours away.

I was not interested in going another 2 hours, plus it was already 6pm.

I walked on, through empty towns and past closed/abandoned albergues.

I continued on, for if I didn’t, I’d be camping in the middle of nowhere with a dead phone.

I pushed on, thankfully I got some sour ropes because these things were the only thing keeping me going.

My final straws.

I got to the town at 8pm. It had one bar, ran by an old Grandma who could barely get around.

I got a beer and an ice cream. She was so nice. Her kindness and care reminded me of my Grandma. She also brought me a bowl of chickpeas and meat.

Dinner.

I charged my phone for about 30 minutes then got back on the road. The sun was setting. It was beautiful.

I got out of town and into the forest, where I found a place to camp.

Set up, and stretched and elevated my feet.

50.7km today.

And I will proudly flex that I have no blisters on my feet and no pain.

Going to sleep now it’s 10:30pm.

I don’t know how far I’m walking tomorrow. Whatever my feet tell me.

See y’all then,
